State Unit No. 12.
State Unit 12 is a collective bargaining unit
of all of the crafts, maintenance, and allied
job classifications of employees within the State
of California civil service system. There are
approximately 12,000 people within the Unit; some
240 separate job classifications; who work in
some 1,100 different job sites from border to
border within the State. In 1991 the International
Union of Operating Engineers, AFL/CIO, Locals
3, 12, 39 & 501 was elected in a state-wide
vote by all persons within the various classifications
to be the exclusive representative of the Unit
for collective bargaining purposes with the State.
